Many of us today are knowledge workers who use our digital devices such as phones, tables and computers to bring about our desired outcomes. Many of us are trying to keep pace with progress, often wishing there were more hours in the day. Ideally, we'd like to get better outcomes in less time and with less effort. We'd love to know we're working on the right things and be able to execute on those things quickly, where necessary.
Getting Nimble is a resource for those looking to explore different ways to work. We'll talk about ways to tackle what you work on, and equally as important, how you work. I'm writing this from personal experience but so I novices and experts alike might find something here to be useful.
The book Essentialism by Greg McKeown discusses the idea of eliminating most things and pursuing only that which is essential—only that which brings the highest contribution. In short, it's a challenge to do less but better. Less but more meaningful, less but more impactful and less but more significant. This notion of choosing the most important thing is crucial—dare I say, essential. It's the thing that keeps you from being buffeted by distractions, being plagued by double-mindedness and generally being unable to make meaningful progress in moving the right things forward.
This typically happens with Product Managers, Business and Systems Analysts but none are immune.
